OUR HISTORY
The year was 1953 and William
Brown Thompson and his partner Harvey Woodruff Bamman, along with three
employees and a used concrete mixer, started producing masonry products on
1½ acres in Fort Myers, Florida. Now, over 50 years later and occupying 50
acres of land, Cement Industries is still here, helping build dreams for
others and the community.
Our product line may have
changed through the years but our core values have not: provide our
customers with excellent service and lasting quality. Today these values are
evident in our extensive line of precast/prestressed concrete products. Our
numerous and varied projects stand tall throughout the state of Florida and
we take pride in the thousands of structures we have produced and erected
for our broad client base.
The Germain Arena in Lee
County, the Bank Atlantic Center in Broward County, American Airlines
Arena in Miami and the Ritz Carlton parking deck in Collier County are
just a few of the many projects we have completed. In addition to arenas,
parking decks and sound walls, we are licensed to produce Spancrete® hollowcore slabs
for use in
condominiums, homes, schools, hospitals and office buildings. From our
beginning in the industry in 1953 until now, we are proud to say that Cement
Industries has shared in the growth of our community and the state of
Florida.
Cement Industries is certified
as an MBE by the state of Florida. Our manufacturing facility is certified by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute
(PCI) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and our
installation crews by PCI. The
American Welders Association (AWA) certifies our welders and the Construction
Material and Engineering Council (CMEC) certifies our Quality Assurance Laboratory. This
recognition is crucial to Cement Industries. It sets the level of standards
for our employees and for the entire building community, while demonstrating
to our customers our dedication to building a better tomorrow.
Second-generation Thompsons
are now at the helm, sharing almost 100 years of combined experience in the
precast industry. Many of our longtime employees have been with the company since
the 1960's and 1970's and have seen their own second and third generation
join the company. This core group of experienced leaders is dedicated to
providing quality products to the entire building community. After all,
we've been building for tomorrow since 1953. |
